Region 6 FAN Action Commissioner
Hi All:
We had a really good FAN meeting in Washington, DC on September 3rd and 4th. Members of the FAN Staff, Board of Directors, and Action Commissioners participated. In all there were 25 attendees, which included seven Sisters, seven Friars, seven Seculars and and five staffers (one who is included in the friar count). While I’m not sure of all the congregations and friaries represented, I do know the Seculars there, which included: Patrick Mendes (National Minister), Tom Bello (National Vice-Minister), Regional Ministers – Ken Beatie, Jan Parker, Stephanie Sormane, and appointees – Dan Mulholland, and Carolyn Townes.
The goals of the meeting were to update the status of FAN’s efforts, provide clear direction for action commissioners for next year with goals and benchmarks and increase sense of belonging.

FYI
Dear Regional Minister:
Franciscan Action Network (FAN) is trying to build up the number of members in their network so we can have a Franciscan Voice representing as large a number of Franciscans as possible. FAN will be having a meeting in Washington, DC on September 3rd and 4th with the primary goal to have some very clear plans and steps for the next 6 month and longer. Please keep FAN in your prayers during that time.
I hope that all of you have had a chance to sign up to be members of FAN on the home page of FAN at: http://www.franciscanaction.org/, and have forwarded the FAN messages from Patrick Mendes, sfo to the local fraternities in your regions.
Having signed up to be a member of FAN, you need to check the website every day for just a few minutes to see the new things posted. Today the FAN homepage has an article about St. Clare that would be of interest of our fraternities.
They also have information about how you can connect FAN to Face Book and My Space sites. Those who might want to use this connection to FAN to get started social networking. It is important that FAN is reaching out to young people outside of the Secular Franciscans, friars, and sisters groups.
We hope each of you will urge your local fraternities to join FAN, so they can keep abreast of social justice issues of concern to all Franciscans.
Peace and all good,
Dan Mulholland, sfo
